Replacing a Data Cable
- Open both power supply boxes the Ethernet data cable is connected to.
- Remove both access panels between the two power supply boxes.
- Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the bottom of the Thunderbolt card.
- Remove the lock nut of the strain relief for the Ethernet cable from the inside of the power supply box.
- Pass the Ethernet cable through the opening for the strain relief.
- Repeat steps 3-5 for the other end of the Ethernet cable.
- Remove the lock nut from the strain relief on the new cable and pass the Ethernet cable through the opening into the power supply box.
- Slide the lock nut onto the Ethernet cable and tighten the strain relief.
- Connect the Ethernet cable to the Thunderbolt card.
- Repeat steps 7-9 for the other end of the Ethernet cable.
- Confirm proper operation with the Formetco Service Line.
- Close the power supply boxes and replace the access panels.
Replacing a Thunderbolt Card
- Open the power supply box.
- Disconnect the incoming power in the bottom of the power supply box.
- Unplug the two Ethernet cables from the bottom of the Thunderbolt card.
- Disconnect the red and black wires from the Thunderbolt card.
- Disconnect any other connections to the Thunderbolt card such as the power supply monitor cable and photocell cable if applicable.
- Remove the Hub card from the Thunderbolt card by pulling on the top and bottom.
- Remove the mounting screws for the Thunderbolt card and take the Thunderbolt card out.
- Mount the new Thunderbolt card with the screws.
- Plug the hub card into the Thunderbolt card. Be careful to properly align the pins.
- Connect the red (+5V) and black (GND) power wires to the screw terminal.
- Reconnect the two Ethernet cables to the bottom of the Thunderbolt card and any other cables that were disconnected such as a photocell or power supply monitor cable.
- Restore power to the power supply box and confirm proper operation with the Formetco Service Line.
