Control Box Data

There are two types of data in the control box: communication and video. Each one has a blue 5 port Ethernet switch for distribution.

  1. Video Data: The video flow is simple. There is a short Ethernet cable going to the video switch from each PC. There will be 1 (F4X) or 2 (FTX) long Ethernet cables going from the switch, out of the control box, and to the sign. In the case of an F4X with no backup PC, there may be no video switch in the control box.
  2. Communication Data: Communication (internet) begins at the router. There are two external antennas attached to the router that will be mounted 18” or more apart from each other. There is an Ethernet cable from the router to the communications switch. From the switch, there is an Ethernet cable to the Power Over Ethernet for the camera, the Web Power Switch (or CPS100), and each PC. There is a beige data shield surge suppressor between the communications switch and each device. The data shield protects the devices from power surges through the Ethernet lines.
